Why HoppeNinjaMath…and who am I

on August 21, 2012

This will be my 18th year teaching in my district, but my first at this middle school.  After 17 years of the same school and the same room, I have been transferred to a different school.  I will be teaching Algebra and Algebra Support.  It has been a tough few months.  I thought I would teach at my old school my whole career.

Anyhow, I love teaching math with technology and have taken many classes.  This summer I took one at Stanford because it was taught by Dan Meyer.  It was like meeting a celebrity!

HoppeNinjaMath.com has existed for a couple of years.  I made it because our district had dumped an awesome online gradebook, for a different one, with less capabilities.  I had a class set of laptops and wanted a place for my students to go to with links to certain webpages for the day, and the new program didn’t allow for that (and the students had a hard time logging in).  So I decided to create a website for them.  They voted on the name.  I was going to use it for homework, too, but that kind of fizzled.  I still use it to post links to what we are doing in class.

Now I will use it for teacher blogging, too.  Yay!

I blog because you all are so wonderful.  I keep stealing things from you guys, it is only right if I share my things, too!  Thank you!
